Your Compass
One of my favorite authors/bloggers is Seth Godin. He’s recently written a piece on maps and the compass. Here’s an excerpt:
It doesn’t pay to memorize the route, because it’s going to change soon… The compass, on the other hand, is more important than ever. If you don’t know which direction you’re going, how will you know when you’re off course?
The Ministry Leader’s Compass
What is your compass? What keeps you from going off course? Is it a Life Plan, as Michael Hyatt espouses? Is it your personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
How do you recalibrate that compass of yours? Is it your weekly review? Is it that monthly check-up session with your accountability partners? Is it your personal devotional time of Bible study and prayer?
Lots of questions, I know. But never underestimate the power of a well-placed one.
What are your thoughts?

I think we all need a reminder to check our compasses! The moral compass of our country desperately needs maintenance…that begins with each individual believer.
For me, I spend daily time in prayer and Bible Study. I also rely on some Godly people in my life to give good advice and encouragement.

It all begins within. It’s a bit overused, but “become the change you want to see in the world.”
“If you don’t know which direction you’re going, how will you know when you’re off course?”
So very true!
Recalibrating my compass comes as I spend time with God each day. The key is listening for His still quiet voice.

My denominational church family has a wonderful mission statement: “To make Christ-like disciples in the nations.” And I really like this! This statement has helped me to clarify my daily activities and priorities and has, in a sense, become my life mission and an effective compass.
Scott, excellent! It’s so cool to have an inspiring result to work toward, which infiltrates all action. This will sustain a lot of energy for you. (not that you now need to neglect rest as an ingredient to your personal recipe of serving strong.)
