Make Time by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky is a practical guide designed to help individuals regain control over their time and attention, allowing them to focus on what truly matters. The book presents a framework for shifting from living life on autopilot ("life by default") to living with intention ("life by design").
It’s highly relevant for anyone — whether a business owner, executive, or anyone dedicated to personal growth—seeking to minimize distractions, add business value, and reduce regret by becoming the best version of themselves.
In today’s fast-paced world, achieving a balanced and successful life often feels like an elusive dream. But, imagine having a personal strategic plan that guides you through your unique life challenges and opportunities, helping you turn every situation into a stepping stone toward your goals. This resource will help you do that.
The six hallmarks—Spiritually Grounded, Physically Fit, Relationally Rich, Emotionally Healthy, Vocationally Aligned, and Financially Free—create a rich framework for developing a comprehensive personal strategic plan. Here is a definition of each.
One afternoon, I was asked to pick up groceries from the local store. With the bag in one hand and the other on my bike handle, I headed home, only to realize too late that my only working brake was on the side where I was holding the groceries. I gained speed down a hill, panicked, and crashed at the bottom, sending groceries flying everywhere.
This experience was a stark reminder of the difference between living by design and living by default. Had I planned ahead, I could have avoided the crash. The same goes for life: When we live by default, we react to whatever comes our way, often leading to unnecessary setbacks. But when we live by design, we set intentions, prepare for challenges, and navigate our path with purpose.
The choice is ours—react to life as it happens or take control and design the life we want. Choose intention. Choose design. Avoid the crashes.
