The Goal Achievement Cycle

How to achieve your goals using a cycle with four steps

So you have a goal you want to achieve, huh? But you've tried this before and failed. You've used mobile apps, you've tried sheer grit and determination. But you haven't really enjoyed the euphoria of goal achievement.

If you're looking for genuine goal achievement, you've come to the right place.

No idea makes any difference without execution. No ambition, no thought, no intention - absolutely nothing becomes reality until there is execution. It all comes down to the walk. You can bank on that!

I want you to

achieve your goals

Let's go!

4 Steps In The Cycle Of Goal Achievement

The first step in achieving your goals is to CLARIFY the outcome.

If you don’t know where you’re going, pretty much any route will get you there. If you want a certain outcome, you must identify it, name it, picture it. Ask yourself these questions:

  • What will I look like?
  • What will I have that you don’t have right now?
  • What will I be able to do that you aren’t able to do right now?
  • What will I no longer have to put up with or tolerate?
  • What will improve in my life?
  • What will be gone from my life?
  • How will my life be better?

The second step in achieving your goals is to IDENTIFY everything that needs to happen for success.

Be brutally honest with yourself. Many people skimp on this step and ultimately take a lot longer to achieve their goal or worse, give up altogether. So ask yourself these questions: For me to reach this goal…

  • What will I have to start doing?
  • What will I have to stop doing?
  • What will I have to change? And how?
  • What steps are involved?

The third step in achieving your goals is to EXECUTE the key actions that will yield the greatest movement toward your goal.

A 90-day period contains 13 weeks. Go for 12 weeks executing the key actions that will get you to your desired goal.

Take the 13th week to do a review of where you stand. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Did I do everything I committed to doing the past 12 weeks?
  • How do I feel (gut feeling) about my progress?
  • What did I learn about myself and my goals?
  • How did my progress for the past 12 weeks move me closer to the kind of person I want to become?

The fourth step in achieving your goals is to REVIEW your progress and amend as necessary.

Take what you answered in STEP 3 above and compare it with the picture you painted in STEP 1

  • What do I need to amend?
  • What needs to stay the same (what did I confirm about my goal)?
  • What needs to be added to my goals?

ACTION STEP

Research has shown that when pursuing a goal, if you have someone with whom you are checking in regularly on your progress toward your goal, you increase your probability of success in achieving that goal by 95%.

Ninety-Five Percent!

But what if, in addition to weekly check-ins, you had an informal board of advisors made of others who were also pursuing their own goals? You can. It's called The 95 Club

Retirement can be a challenging transition for business owners. After years of building, managing, and leading their companies, stepping away often brings a mix of emotions, including uncertainty, anxiety, and even fear. As an advisor, your role is to guide clients through this significant life change, helping them reframe retirement not as an ending but as a new chapter filled with possibilities. Managing client expectations involves helping them understand that retirement isn’t just about leaving behind their business. It’s about opening the door to opportunities they may have never explored.

You start with a plan. You feel the momentum building. The first few steps feel good, maybe even great. Then, like clockwork, you find yourself right back where you started. It’s frustrating, confusing, and honestly, exhausting. Why does it keep happening? And how do you make progress that sticks this time? Here’s the truth: real change doesn’t happen because you’ve found the perfect strategy. It happens because you finally stop flirting with progress and commit to what’s already within you.

Conflict within families or stakeholder groups can quietly grow, damaging relationships and disrupting progress if left unchecked. Recognizing the early warning signs of conflict is key to addressing issues before they escalate into larger problems. This is particularly crucial when dealing with high-stakes situations like family businesses, succession planning, or shared financial decisions.

For as long as anyone could remember, Charlie was the owner of a local hardware store, Charlie's Fix-It Shop. It wasn’t just any hardware store—it was the place everyone went when they needed something fixed, something built, or simply a friendly chat. For over forty years, Charlie greeted his customers with a smile, offered advice on all things tools and gadgets, and kept the town in tip-top shape. But now, Charlie was getting older.
